9 Months ( and two weeks) Dr. Appointment results

I am a little late writing in the weblog. I had good intentions to write the day we went in for his 9 months check up but have been running around doing so many things I kept forgetting!! I’m sorry Alex I’ll try to do better next time!

Doctor says Alex is doing very well. He said we’d have to watch out for this one since he was actually happy as a clam with him, smiling throughout the entire exam. While we waited he was all over the table playing with all the Doctor’s tools and eating up the paper. Chloe sat very quietly in her stroller, terrified to be there…she didn’t say a peep especially not to Dr. Stevens!! how different they both are!

Weight: 20.5 lbs
Hieght: 29.5 inchs ( verify w/ charles)
Head: 18 inchs

Dr. Stevens said we should start trying to give him an ounce of soy every day and increase week to week to see how he reacts. We haven’t started this yet, but we will shortly. Until then he recommended that we do not feed him any meat or milk protein which is making it a little difficult for us right now in terms of selection. He is eating pretty much everything except the things which might make him break out. We are trying very hard to give him little pieces of food so he can start feeding himself. He loves his cheerios, Kik cereal and the szwibeck toasts.

His sleeping patterns are very similar to 8 months. He goes to sleep around 8:30-9pm, wakes up around 6:30am (yup, he is awak 30 mins earlier unfortunately) and we got and get him by 7:00am because he starts to get very whiny. One week ago he actually slept till 7:30ish 4 nights in a row, but then went right back to 6:30am. I wish I understood why that was. He naps around 9:30am anywhere from 40mins to 2 hours ( if not home only about 45 mins), the we give him his solids around noon ( we just started giving him his solids first then bottle before nap), bottle around 1:30-2pm, then nap time from about 1:30-3:30pm, sometimes longer depending on the day. Then he has a bottle when he wakes up and then eats dinner around 5:30-6pm. His last bottle is around 8:30pm. We will have to phase out one bottle soon. We are noticing he is getting a little bit chunky 🙂

He is extremely active. He is very very close to walking. He moves around by crawling or getting up and moving from furniture to furniture. He also is able to use a walker to go from one room to the other. He still hasn’t quite figure out how to turn it though so he will walk with it as far as he can and then when he bumps into something he goes back to crawling. He no longer likes to go in his saucer and doesn’t really like the play park around we made him. Everytime he goes in he pretty much starts to cry right away. He still likes his jumper but we hardly every use it because we worry about his knees because he is getting heavy for it. He loves clapping and does the most adorable wave, he waves by closing his hand. It’s so cute. We just have to say Bye bye and he starts to wave. He loves his Chicken Elmo and just goes nuts when he hears it anywhere in the house. He loves playing with any kind of rope and puts everything into his mouth, including a handful of earth! He loves his swing in the back yard. He actually took a little step today, just once, but he is getting there!

OH and just before his 9 month appointment, Alex went to the emergency room for a catscan. Alex was sitting in his high chair, not the peg perego, the one that sits on a regular chair and Chloe was making him laugh and doing peek a boos with him when she pushed down on the side of the high chair and completely tipped him over and he hit his head on the hard wood floor of the kitchen. We did not see the fall so could not be sure how he hit. He cried and cried for about 10 mins. I got worried about a head injury so I called Dr. Stevens who asked me to take him to Valhalla for a Catscan incase. We were there for 4 hours but everything turned out fine. Luckily Alex fell asleep just before we got to the catscan room and all went well.

We bought a new car, a Honda Odysey and Alex is in his new Britax roundabout car seat. He is for now still facing backwards. The car is great so far we did our first trip with it last weekend to Montreal. Alex does pretty well in the car. He gets a little whiny sometimes but he can normally be stretched. I sat in between Chloe and ALex when he got upset and it made him happy.

Alex still goes to French class with Chloe, soon though, I think I will be registering him only and not Chloe. Perhaps in September I’ll be bringing Chloe to the Y preschool and him to his french class!
He loves the song Mon corp, mon corp aime la musique and head and shoulders knees and toes in french. It always makes him laugh.

He loves his big sister too even though she is always head butting him and teasing him. She takes toys away from him and moves them so he can chase after her 🙂

THat is all for now! We love you Alex!
